The button was designed by Casey Hein who commissioned highly respected medical illustrator, Zach Turner of Blue Motion Studios, to create this anatomically detailed artwork. The lapel button is intended for dentists and dental hygienists to give to physicians, physician’s assistants, nurses, pharmacists, diabetes educators and other healthcare practitioners to wear when they see patients. This has been a successful way to stimulate discussions about periodontal disease between non-dental healthcare providers and their patients, and build interprofessional collaboration between oral healthcare providers and the greater healthcare community. Lapel buttons are also great to distribute at health fairs, or other venues where practitioners from other healthcare professions are in attendance.
